CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Campbellsville University alum and dual-credit coordinator, Kimberly Steele, has been appointed as Director of the Conover Education Center in Harrodsburg, Ky.

The director position over the Conover Education Center needed an individual who held unwavering integrity, deep understanding of the local community, upheld CU’s core beliefs and values and above all cared for its students. Steele was ready to meet the high standards set before her and had served as interim director since August 25th. On January 1st of this year, Steele accepted the position as full-time director.

Originally from Iowa, Steele moved to Harrodsburg in 2003 and 23 years later, Steele says she always enjoys the charm and close-knit community within Mercer County.

In 2017, Steele graduated from CU with a Bachelor of Science in business administration and is currently enrolled in the Master of Management and Leadership program. For the past two years, Steele has been part of the CU team as a dual-credit coordinator, helping high school students get a jump start on college.

Now Steele has taken her passion for higher education and its students a step further as the director of the Conover Center. “With my staff and students, I see myself as being the servant and the supporter of everyone who's working hard. I ask things like, ‘What do you need from me? How can I support you?’ That’s one of the many facets of my role,” expressed Steele.

The CU Conover Education Center is most recognized for its wide array of certificate programs and the School of Chiropractic. Programs like barbering, cosmetology, welding and H/VAC are just a few of the opportunities available to anyone.

Steele is ready to keep expanding those opportunities. “I want to not only strengthen, but expand our certificate programs that we provide, particularly for the non-traditional students and high school graduates as well. I have a huge goal, a dream, of making this regional center of Campbellsville University a certificate hub for the state of Kentucky.”

CU Vice President of Academic Affairs, Dr. Jeantte Parker, shared her excitement for Steele’s ambition. “Kimberly brings energy and entrepreneurship to this role. She is building bridges, forming partnerships, and helping students.”

These partnerships are one of Steele’s goals, forming a tight-knit community of students and neighbors and, in turn, providing graduates of the certificate programs with opportunities right after walking across the stage. “It's a small community, and it's about partnerships; I have met with multiple local leaders and have received phenomenal feedback,” said Steele.

CU President Dr. Joe Hopkins shared his excitement about Steele as site director. “Kimberly Steele is a force of personality and purpose. She has a heart for the Harrodsburg community and surrounding area, and she is an innovator who can deliver!”
